So a week into the trip, and our first day in Tulum and we have already visited a hospital – not because Hollie or I have sustained any injury… Actually that’s a lie… Hollie has hurt her tail bone from jumping into the Cenote, so we hope it gets better because it’s causing her some jip. Although I hurt my tail bone once and I swear it was painful for months on end…..

Anyways, this isn’t about us, it’s about the lovely Aseem from California. We actually met him in Cancun, myself and Aseem threw some shapes and danced like we were on Strictly.

Who knew that we would bump into him again in Tulum at the Straw Hat Hostel! It felt really nice to see a familiar face and of course we busted some excellent moves (that’s a lie, I felt kinda tired and stiff, so wasn’t able to release my full dancing potential).

Aseem has got the best moves and is one of the happinest people I’ve ever encountered! He jumped upon the table to shake his hips (as we have all done at one point in out lives)…. But as he stepped down onto the bench, he slipped and landed on his arm and then his head! Hollie and I helped him up, and he said he was fine and went and sat down. We asked again as this was not the Aseem we had seen before, it wasn’t normal to see him not dancing! Aseem said that he thought he had dislocated his elbow, and sure enough..his elbow was not where it was meant to be.

I went to get a member of staff, who picked up Aseem’s arm and for a moment I was scared he was going to try and pop it back into place!! He then went and grabbed a bag of ice, and another person came with a bit of cardboard and bandage to keep his arm in place. We then got into the taxi equipped with a can of coke for the shock and thankfully it was only 5 minutes away. Aseem was greeted from the taxi with a wheelchair, and he requested this picture was taken…

It wasn’t really a hospital as such, it was fairly small and nobody else was there. So Aseem was seen straight away, they took his observations and said they would need to X – Ray his arm to see if its a break or a dislocation. BUT they wouldn’t do anything before Aseem paid a $2000 deposit, that he could claim back on insurance!!!!! Now we know why this place is called Costa Med!

Thankfully the X Ray showed it was dislocated and not broken so they would try to pop it back. Aseem’s friend turned up and so we said bye to Aseem who looked happy as ever in his hospital gown. He said they had given him some pain relief but it still hurt. I had wondered why they didn’t give him pain relief straight away, I guess it was a money thing though!!

Aseem got in contact the next day to say that his arm was normal again and he was thankful for our support… But most importantly, that he would not stop dancing!

    1. Am trying my best too, and after seeing the need for a £2000 deposit, it is even more of a reason to stay out of danger! xxxxxxxx
